There are many oriental, especially Chinese, touches throughout the house; these can be found, for example, in the garden's vegetation or in the decoration of the eating-area. As the fridge itself is shiny black, which is not the most usual style in European design, we placed similar elements to the fridge around the kitchen, to make it settle in and avoid what could have looked too flashy otherwise.

WHERE ETHICS AND LUXURY COEXIST

The kitchen island stands proud in the middle of the space, self-proclaiming itself the centre of the house and making easy to imagine thousands of family chats around it.

A challenge we had with the project was to find a walnut tree wood big enough so that the wood patterns continued from one piece of furniture to the other. As we succeeded in finding the wood, we managed to make the finish a sleeker one.

Información técnica

  • The 19 mm thick furniture structure is of damp-proof fibreboard and anthracite finish.
  • Both the drawer and hinge are made of the latest Blum model and are finished in anthracite and titan, respectively.
  • The columns are made of walnut tree wood with a "honey" finish.
  • The doors and drawers of the island are finished with white matt lacquer.
  • The 12 mm thick cooktop is of a ceramic material (INALCO) and black matt finish. This material is none-scratchable and can endure high temperatures.
